What is Cornerstone?
Cornerstone Christian School is a new hybrid-model, classical, Christian school, serving Isle of Wight County. We’re eager to nurture a Christ-centered, joyful community that partners with parents to equip the next generation with a classical, Christian education.

Our Mission
We seek to support parents in their Biblical responsibility to raise children who glorify God by equipping families with a Christ-centered, classical education.
“...Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone.” –Ephesians 2:20
Why Cornerstone?
We are eager to nurture a local, Christ-centered community by providing the next generation with a Christian, classical education. Our hybrid model makes this affordable and accessible.
Christian
We support Christian parents in their calling to educate their children. Because all knowledge finds its root in the Creator, biblical truth will be integrated into every subject. The leadership holds to a shared, historic confession of faith and code of Christian conduct, which unifies us in our mission to point our children to Christ.
Hybrid-Model
Primary instruction in all core subjects is provided by the teachers. Parents partner with teachers to reinforce, assist with homework, and add enrichment. An intentionally condensed schedule (Tues-Fri, 8:30-1:30 with optional electives) makes Christian education affordable and gives the gift of time back to parents.
Classical
This time-tested methodology structures a child’s education in a way that engages his or her naturally developing abilities at each age (Grammar, Logic, Rhetoric). Character development, critical thinking, and communications skills are emphasized.
Community-Driven
A healthy, supportive community is essential to every learning environment. We desire to be a community of parents and educators who support and pray for one another, as we collectively steward the young souls God has placed in our care.
What We Believe
Cornerstone Christian School Statement of Faith
We believe that the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms, as well as the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith accurately summarize the system of doctrine taught in the Word of God. The Old and New Testaments of the Bible and those documents constitute our complete statement of faith. The following is a concise reiteration of a few of the important doctrines explained in the Confession and Catechisms:
-
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit, inerrant in the original writings, and the final authority in faith and practice.
-
We believe in one living, sovereign, and true God, existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same essence and attributes.
-
We believe that the eternal purpose of God includes all events; is holy and wise; does not deprive man of responsibility, nor make God the author of sin. Before the foundation of the world, God the Father chose for Himself in Christ a people whom He gave to His Son that they should be holy and without blame before Him.
-
We believe in the beginning it pleased God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, for the manifestation of the glory of his eternal power, wisdom, and goodness, to create or make the world, and all things therein, whether visible or invisible, in the space of six days, and all very good.
-
We believe after God had made all the other creatures, he created humanity. He made them male and female, with rational and immortal souls, thereby making them suited to that life lived unto God for which they were created. They were made in the image of God, being endowed with knowledge, righteousness, and true holiness. They had the law of God written in their hearts and the power to fulfill it. Even so, they could still transgress the law, because they were left to the liberty of their own will, which was subject to change.
-
We believe the chief end of Man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
-
We believe that all men are sinners, because Adam and Eve, their first parents, were tempted by Satan, disobeyed God’s command, and by their own choice fell from their original state of innocence and fellowship with God and came under the power and penalty of sin. All men fell in Adam, being sinners by imputation and by choice, separated from God, and under His condemnation.
-
We believe that Jesus Christ was born of the virgin Mary, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit. He was both fully human and fully divine. He lived a sinless life, died a voluntary substitutionary death to save His people from their sins, and was raised bodily from the dead and exalted to the right hand of God the Father.
-
We believe that all who are born again by the Holy Spirit receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ and are justified on the grounds of His shed blood, not because of any works they have done. They are indwelt and sealed by the Spirit until the day of redemption, are secure in Christ, and together form the true Church.
-
We believe that in exercising the authority entrusted to him, the Lord Jesus, through the ministry of his Word, by his Spirit, calls to himself out of the world those who are given to him by his Father. They are called so that they will live before him in all the ways of obedience that he prescribes for them in his Word. Those who are called he commands to live together in local societies, or churches, for their mutual edification and the fitting conduct of public worship that he requires of them while they are in the world.
-
We believe in the personal, bodily, and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to judge the world, the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting punishment of the lost, and the everlasting bliss of the saints.
-
We believe in accordance with the Word of God, marriage is to be between one man and one woman. A man must not have more than one wife nor a woman more than one husband at the same time.
